a celebration of fine food, drink and great company

The best quality produce, imaginative flavour combinations and simple presentation are the cornerstones of our food. Warmth, good humour and friendliness are those of our hospitality.

The restaurant occupies one of the original parts of this charming old coaching inn with wood panelling and original paintings by Scottish and French artists, the menu offered here is a seasonal fixed four course dinner. Our wine list features a wide range of new and old world vintages, with a house selection of around thirty wines under thirty pounds and an old world influenced fine wine section. We make extensive use of locally sourced seasonal ingredients with venison from the surrounding hills, fish and shellfish from the boats at Mallaig, soft fruits and vegetables from a small scale grower, lamb from a nearby coastal farm and beef from our Highland butchers. Wherever possible local suppliers will be our first choice as we believe in buying and employing locally in order to support the local economy. Our over-riding priority is, however, quality. We do not use an ingredient simply because it is produced locally, nor do we reject an ingredient simply because it is not. In recognition of our commitment to using local produce, and the quality of the resulting dishes our restaurant has been awarded the prestigious “Flavour of Scotland” Thistle Award, the Highlands and Islands Dining Out award and currently has 2 AA rosettes. Please note that as the menu is written according to the number of diners, a dinner reservation is essential, bookings can be made by telephone to 01397 722246 or by e-mail to dine@glenfinnan.co.uk

Bistro and Bar

The Stage House Bistro and bar is a spacious room with a vaulted pine clad ceiling and overlooks the burn running adjacent to the hotel. Light, airy and comfortable it is the ideal place for more casual dining or just to relax and enjoy a drink.

We have a traditional espresso machine for morning, afternoon and after dinner coffee or tea, premium draught beers, Scottish bottled ales and an excellent selection of single malt whiskies, spirits and soft drinks.

We are fortunate to be situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty with such a rich, natural larder in the sea, hills and lochs of the West Highlands. The Stage House Bistro blackboard menu makes the best of the high quality seasonal produce available to us. We make all of our own soups, casseroles, terrines, hot-smoked salmon and duck, we cure our own herring, bake our own bread daily and make all of our own ice creams and desserts. Alongside these we also serve simply grilled meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

We do not take table reservations for bar meals, but recommend that groups of four or more diners telephone in advance to ensure that we have space for you.
